A delivery sorter at an automated facility
The efficiency is improved by 70%-80%. Sorting no longer relies on physical strength, but puts forward higher requirements for operation skills and response ability
"I'm too busy these days to ask my family what they bought." Express sorter Chen Feng talked with reporters, while busy with his work, "I bought some auto parts on the same day, also don't have time to carefully choose." An hour, by his hand package has more than 300 pieces into the cage car, ready to transport to the corresponding crenel loading car.
Just after Singles' Day, for most people, the "busyness" ends after the previous price comparison and the day's "shopping", but for delivery sorters like Chen Feng, the "busyness" continues.
Handle more than 300 packages an hour
November 14, when the reporter walked into the Chongqing third post management center, 15,000 square meters of production plant is a busy scene, almost cover the entire plant of high-speed double-layer package sorting machine running, loading and unloading crenel vehicles enter and leave. After the parcel arrives, the sorter will put it on the conveyor belt and transfer it to the delivery desk. After recording and checking the "three-dimensional" and "weight" of each parcel, the small and medium-sized parcel will be sent to the double-layer parcel extension for sorting. Those "too thin, too high, too fat" - do not meet the conditions of the machine package, through the front chute picked out after the separate sent to the shaped parts processing area for manual sorting.
"The sorting of mail before loading mainly includes three areas. One is the 42 grids directly connected by the sorting machine. Packages in this area can be automatically dropped into the corresponding chute directly through the system calculation and transferred to the transport carriage. The last two, 111 non-directly connected latticework and irregular parts processing areas require manual sorter participation." China Post Group Chongqing Post Central Bureau command and dispatch center production operations management Wang Kai told reporters.
The area where Chen Feng is located is the inner ring of the sorting machine is not directly connected to the grid, he is mainly responsible for Qianjiang, Pengshui two areas adjacent to the express sorting, stacking work. As the reporter interviewed, Chen Feng in the hands of two areas of the scanning record instrument, respectively, Qianjiang 185, 168 Pengshui. "That's about the number of parcels handled in an hour, because it's daytime and it's not the peak time." Chen Feng said that these days are the peak season for the "Double 11" express delivery. In these two regions alone, the number of express delivery can reach 2,000 in a single day shift, "the number is about two-thirds more than usual".
The day shift is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it takes Chen Feng nearly an hour to get to the mail processing center, leaving his home after 6 a.m. In addition to the normal lunch break in a day, the rest is basically between loading and unloading. "At this time, the express parts of the assembly line have been processed, and the new batch has not been sent to the chute, so we can rest".
"Automated sorting makes it easier for us."
Scan the express from the chute gate, turn around and put it in the cage car, staggered the size of the package, and then turn back to continue scanning the express that has fallen into the gate. A grid mouth after temporary processing, and then two meters apart in another area of the grid mouth repeat this process. Every time a 2-meter square cage is filled, Chen pushes it to an open space a little further away, and then pushes another empty cage truck over, where he stands at the cage and the gate to sort the packages. "This work is not difficult to get started, but most people who are slow and not good at operating the scanning instrument are only responsible for one area of the grid, afraid of busy." Chen Feng told the reporter that he has been working in the postal industry for more than 20 years, has been in the sorting line, witnessed the increase of express packages year by year, especially "Double 11", "buy more things, all types of express, which is sent to the region".
"Sorting packages manually in the past was slow and easy to make mistakes." Chen Feng said that in recent years, more and more advanced automated sorting equipment has made their work easier for sorters. "It used to be very tiring, with long distances and large amounts of sorting."
"The information of each package is integrated into the two-dimensional code on the mailing sheet, which is scanned by the OBR barcode identification optical machine in front of the conveyor belt for automatic sorting, and the corresponding sorting chute. Sorters are more about entry, sorting and placing." Chongqing third mail processing Center production plane duty monitor Chen Li told reporters, the interview day all day about 700 people to participate in the operation, divided into white night shift 350 people. In this case of automation, the per capita efficiency is increased by 70% to 80%, and the per capita processing can reach 1000 pieces.
"Automated sorting makes the work of sorters less physically dependent, and also puts higher demands on their operational skills and reflexes." According to Wang Kai, it is precisely because of the cooperation of these sorters and the increasingly advanced automation equipment, the speed of express processing and delivery has been improved in recent years, which can ensure the efficiency and quality of express delivery even in the "Double 11" mass delivery time.
